District Collector T.N. Hariharan conducted a sensitisation session on Friday to get the views of industry owners and officials on implementing the single window system for micro, small and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs). According to an official press release, the State Government has introduced a single window system for MSMEs to get the required clearances. The district-level committee for this will meet twice a month.

Coimbatore District Industries Centre General Manager S. Asokan said the facility is expected to be implemented after the budget session of the Assembly. About 60 services are covered under this system, unlike earlier when only the major clearances were given. All new and existing MSMEs going in for construction of new building and plant and machinery will have to submit the application online to get the clearances. This will be followed up by the respective departments and the clearances have to be given within the stipulated period.

For instance, if an approval should be given within 10 days, the clarifications and additional records should be obtained in seven days. If not, the official concerned will be levied a penalty of ₹1,000 a day. If a unit furnishes false information, penalty of ₹15,000 will be levied.

The DIC is the nodal agency and industries can approach it for any assistance. “All officials concerned, from BDOs to inspectors, took part in the meeting on Friday. They have been instructed not to take any manual application,” he said. “The aim of this project is to ensure ease of doing business to industries,” he added.
