Meeting on minimum wages for textile workers

A meeting of stakeholders related to fixing minimum wages for workers in textile units in the State will be held here on August 10.

According to a release from the Labour Department, the State Government has constituted a committee to fix the minimum wages for workers in textile mills (apart from apprentices).

It is headed by Joint Commissioner of Labour, Coimbatore, P. Marimuthu. While the secretary is S.S. Mariappan, Assistant Commissioner of Labour S.V. Devarajan (SISSPA), K. Selvaraj (SIMA), M. Basheer Ahmed (LPF), P.M. Kumar (CITU) and T.S. Ramani (HMS) are its members.

The meeting of this committee was held here on June 4 and July 9 this year.

In continuation of this exercise, the meeting of the stakeholders would be held at the Labour Office, Balasundaram Road, at 4 p.m. on August 10, the release added.
