A continuing medical education programme on ‘promoting well child outreach amongst rising inequity’ was organised at Masonic Medical Centre for Children here earlier this week. It was jointly organised by Masonic Medical Centre for Children, Shanti Ashram’s International Centre for child and public health and by Keithan Sathya Trust for the wellbeing of children and bridging health inequities amongst vulnerable children.
It was in line with the World health Organisation’s (WHO) third strategy of integrated management of childhood illness programme.
The CME was aimed at building knowledge and performance of general practitioners, medical students, paediatrics, nursing students and academicians. The CME had two technical sessions - on creating health communities by strengthening the well child outreach and routine immunization and its critical role in reducing disease burden among vulnerable children.
Head of the department of community medicine in PSGIMSR Thomas Chacko, Chief medical officer of Masonic Medicine Centre for Children R. Krishnaswami, Head of the paediatrics department in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital Suganthi and a few other leading doctors participated.
