MDMK plans signature campaign

March 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will soon conduct signature campaign urging the State Government and district administration to establish a girls’ higher secondary school on the Madukkarai government school premises.

In a release, the party says that the government must also establish six laboratories and eight classrooms on the new higher secondary school premises on Sundarapuram Road and identify a new place for the school ground as the existing ground area has shrunk on account of the land taken up for construction of taluk office. It says that the government and the district administration have gone against the decision of the parent-teacher association in using the school area for the taluk office construction.

In this act, they have also not taken in the account the opinion of the teachers, students and parents. While construction of taluk office was welcome, it was unfair to use the entire school area for the purpose. The government must provide new buildings in lieu of those demolished.
