Marriage of minor girl: four held

May 09, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Four persons were arrested for allegedly getting a 14-year-old girl married to her lover as she was pregnant.

The girl’s parents were separated and she lived with her mother and stepfather. Her neighbour Rajesh (26) had been abusing her sexually for nearly two year, with the knowledge of her parents. Her mother, step father and the woman’s friend then arranged for her marriage with Rajesh on April 19.

The victim called Childline for help. The police arrested the girl’s mother and her stepfather on Friday. The mother’s friend Vijayendran and Rajesh were arrested on Saturday.
