But what took the cake was the first two ranks in the vocational stream were from Coimbatore. N. Vivek, a student of general machinist course in the vocational stream at Vivegam Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Veerapandi Pirivu, bagged the State first rank with 200 cut-off. Though his overall total was 1,137 out of 1,200 in Plus-Two, Vivek fared very well in the core subjects. He plans to take up mechanical engineering.
Second rank holder E. Siranjeevi with a cut-off 199.83, completed general machinist course in the vocational stream at SRSI Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Karamadai. He too wants to do mechanical engineering.
The three rank holders in the general category are P. Ashok Kumar, a student of Green Park Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Namakkal, who bagged the fourth rank. Terming his rank ‘unexpected, Ashok plans to take up computer science engineering.
S. Iswarya, a student of Malar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Paramathi Velur, Namakkal, bagged the fifth rank. Though a student of computer science, she plans to take up Electronics and Communication Engineering.
S. Ashwin Kumar, a student of PSG Sarvajana Higher Secondary School, has been ranked ninth in the State. A computer science student, he plans to pursue mechanical engineering. The three rank holders, all with 200 cut-off are among the 32 in the State who got the same cut-off.
