Man killed in cracker blast

A person involved in the illegal manufacture of crackers in his house Thusur village near here was killed in a blast on Thursday.

The police said that Balusamy (60) was involved in the manufacture of fire crackers in his house without any permission.

With the temple festivals in the villages in the offing, he made bulk manufacture of crackers in his house and displayed them atop his house this morning.

When he was gathering the stock in the evening, a blast occurred.

A portion of his house crashed in the incident. About ten more houses in the vicinity also suffered damages in the impact.

His body has been sent to the Government Head Quarters Hospital here for a post-mortem examination.

The police also seized stock of unused crackers and gun powder from the house.
