Selvam, a construction worker, was found dead near the Ondipudur flyover on Tuesday morning. The Singanallur Police, who have registered a case, said that stones present at the scene of crime and injuries on his face suggested that his face was smashed and he died of those injuries.
A native of Devakottai in Sivaganga district, he had been a resident of Singanallur for the past 10 years or so.
The police said that they had picked up his relative Dayanand for questioning and after inquiry arrested him.
He had hit Selvam with stones following a family feud that broke out a couple of days ago.
Girl succumbs
R. Shanmuga Priya, an 18-year-old polytechnic college student, succumbed on Tuesday to burns she had sustained while attempting suicide a few days ago. The Perur Police said that the girl attempted suicide after her parents chided her for talking to hey boyfriend.

Ananya (13), who was injured in an accident that took place near Kallatty in The Nilgiris on Monday, succumbed late on Monday night, taking the death toll to two. Radha, 52, a passenger of the car that fell off the road, had died at the Government Hospital in Ooty.
