Sixty-two-year-old Ramasamy, a resident of Puduthottam, near Annur, succumbed to injuries he sustained in an assault by his son Ganesamoorthy on Saturday. The Police said that Ganesamoorthy attacked his father with a wooden pole used in pounding grains at their residence after his father told him not to bring his child in this Tamil month. Ganesamoorthy’s wife had recently delivered a baby girl. Ganesamoorthy also assaulted his mother. Neighbours rushed the elderly couple to the Government Hospital in Annur and from there to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Ramasamy dead.
