Man commits suicide

M. Sathish Kumar (27) of Kottur, who was working as a salesman at the public distribution system outlet at Subbegoundenpudur on the outskirts of the city, ended his life over the fear of losing job. The Kottur police said that he was a drunkard and that a few days ago he left the shop locked for three days to visit his parents in Kerala. His absence from duty was taken to the notice of his higher ups and the officer in-charge of the shop took away the shop key from Sathish Kumar. The police said that he feared that he would lose his job and ended his life by consuming poison before jumping into a well near the Kottur Panchayat Office on Friday night. On Saturday, his body was recovered and taken to the Government hospital for post-mortem.
