Man arrested on assault charge

Podanur Police have arrested Y. Ibrahim, 35, of Saramedu on charges of assaulting three persons near Salamath Nagar on Thursday. The Police are on the lookout for Ibrahim’s brothers Rafiq, Bilal and Shahjahan.

The Police said that the four brothers entered into an argument with S. Faizal Rahman, his father and brother-in-law when they were selling vegetables. They had demanded money to let them carry on their business.

When Faizal Rahman refused to pay, the brothers assaulted him, his father and also the brother-in-law.

Mr. Rahman had stated in his complaint that they also damaged goods worth Rs. 10,000 and threatened them with dire consequences.

The injured three had been admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Two held Singanallur Police have arrested C. Govindan, 46, and B. Venkatesh, 26, on Friday on charges of picking the pocket of a person near Manis Cinemas on Kamarajar Road.

Three arrested

Peelamedu Police have arrested a sexologist and two persons on charges of running prostitution. The Police said that M. Yuvaraj of Edayarpalayam, who worked as a part-time sexologist at the ESI Hospital, along with H. Mohammed Safi and Latha were arrested following a raid at a house at Kalapatti Nehru Nagar. According to polilce, Yuvaraj had sent his patients to Safi and Latha on the guise of treating them.

Arrested Pollachi Taluk Police have arrested Mylsamy, 51, and his brother Aruchamy, 44, on charges of murdering their father Palanisamy (80). The Police traced Palanisamy’s body in a farm well with injury marks. When the Police questioned Mylsamy and Aruchamy, the two confessed to the crime saying that they assaulted their father after he refused to give the family property. After he died, they dumped the body in the well.
