The Podanur police arrested a man on charges of sharing a video of his wife with one of his friends. The police said that the accused also allegedly assaulted the woman with the help of his paramour when she took the matter to the local Jamaath.

The arrested have been identified as T.A. Sulaiman (35), a resident of Kurichi housing unit, Kamarajar Nagar and his paramour Rayana Yasmin (28). Sulaiman married the complainant in 2004 and they have three children. According to police, the accused recently forced his wife to consume liquor, forced her to have sex, videographed the act and allegedly shared it with a friend.

The woman later complained to the local Jamaath, where attempts were made to settle the issue. However, the accused stated that he would not stay with his wife and refused to return the 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹ 50,000 given to him by her parents at the time of marriage.

On March 13, Sulaiman along with Yasmin came to the house and allegedly assaulted his wife for having complained to the Jamaath. The two were arrested and remanded on Tuesday.
