Heavy rains in catchment areas has led to a five foot increase in water level in the Lower Bhavani Project Reservoir in just four days.

PWD officials said the level this morning was 71.10 feet against the full level of 105 feet. it was 66.78 feet just four days back. The inflow today was 4,010 cusecs with outflow of 1,105 cusecs to the Bhavani River and canal.

On June 3, there was an inflow of more than 9,000 cusecs in heavy rains due to onset of South West monsoon at Kerala, they said.

Officials said farmers of LBP ayacut hope to get water from August 1, 15 days before the schedule, for their first turn crop. If the monsoon is further active, inflow would increase and the reservoir would fill up by July end, they said.
