A one-and-a-half-year-old male leopard cat was found dead on Coonoor-Ooty Road on Friday morning.
According to K. Saravana Kumar, Ranger, Nilgiris North Forest Range, the animal was killed by a speeding vehicle near Valley View, around five km from Ooty. The road kill must have happened late Thursday night, he said and added that the incident came to light only around 6.30 a.m. on Friday. The Forest Department officials were initially told that it was a young leopard but later it turned out to be a leopard cat.
