Guest lectures, business quiz, robotics events, stock market workshop and many such events dominated day two of Anokha 2015 on Friday. It’s a tech fest conducted at Amrita University and The Hindu is a media partner.

At Lumiere, an educationist, space technology entrepreneur, a retired army officer, wild life photographer and a few others narrated their experience. The educationist Prema Rangachary, director, Vidya Vanam, spoke on how teaching tribal children in Anaikatty had proved to be a good unlearning experience for her.

The tribals recorded history through their songs, which they rendered on both happy and sad occasions, she said and pointed out that they had recorded more than 25 varieties of spinach.

The tribals had a good memory and were good at mathematics as well.

Space technology entrepreneur Sourabh Kaushal spoke of experiences in space research, he being discouraged by faculty and friends to study electronics and communication engineering and his happiness at his first paper being accepted by top scientists in NASA.

He said that he was focussing on space debris management and proposed three methods and they have won appreciation.

At the ‘Robowars,’ robots took on one another while their handles stood outside the play area manoeuvring them to the best position. The organising students said that nine teams participated in the event that saw students from the Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, win the first two places.

At advance line follower, the electronics and electrical students had to come up with moveable, sensor-based machines that would follow markings in a maze to navigate seamlessly. Sixteen teams participated with their sense-intelligent devices and of those three won.
