Kothagiri school students win regional finals of TCS IT quiz

The Regional Finals of the TCS IT Wiz 2014, held here on Tuesday, witnessed several tense moments as the contestants fought to win and secure their position in the upcoming competition at the national level.

The quiz saw as many as 479 teams, comprising 958 students from 72 schools in Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Coonoor, the Nilgiris, Kothagiri, Coimbatore, Pollachi and Mettupalayam taking part.

Winners

Finally, it was Ashik Reji and Aswin Philip from St.Judes Public School, Kothagiri who won the title.

The runners-ups were M. Sharath Chandran and Hari Krishna from G.K.D. Matriculation Higher Secondary School here, according to a press release.

The highlight of the Regional finals was the animation-based quiz software. Ravi Viswanathan, President – Growth Markets & Head – Chennai Operations, TCS, distributed the prizes.

An interactive Twitter contest was also organised during the quiz to engage with the students on a real-time basis as a part of the IT firm's social media outreach programme. It witnessed 2,312 tweets with prizes given to the two persons with the most number of tweets.

The TCS IT Wiz, an inter-school quiz focussing on Information Technology was organised by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The quiz was open to high school students in classes 8 to 12 from various districts.
