Knowing Coimbatore wins them prizes

College students got a chance to be quizzed on their knowledge of the city they lived in – Coimbatore, at the ‘Quiz on Coimbatore’ held at Sasi Creative School of Business in Coimbatore on Tuesday.

As many as 40 teams from many colleges and universities enthusiastically took part to show how well they knew the city.

They were all eager to face the posers from quiz master M. Rangarajan after the inauguration by Bobby Mathew, director, Enhance Academy.

There was a preliminary round followed by the final round.

From 40 teams, six made it to the finals. They were from Amrita School of Engineering, Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, PSG College of Technology, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, and Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College.

There were interesting questions on personalities, landmarks, history, and other characteristic features related to Coimbatore. In addition to the questions, audio and video clippings too were used by the quiz master.

The team consisting of K.B. Saradambal and Upasana Srinivasan, which beat the others in the Talking Straight, Question Corner, Temples of Coimbatore, Four for Coimbatore, and buzzer rounds, to win the quiz, was from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women.

The first runner-up was the team of P. Nithin and S. Kaushik from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, and the second runner-up was the team of K. Shyam and K.R. Vignesh from Amrita School of Engineering.

Purse worth Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000 were given away to the first, second and third place winners, along with merit certificates.
