Jump Start turns springboard for budding entrepreneurs

Incubation centre to come up in Coimbatore.

Jump Start, a one-day conclave on entrepreneurship, held here on Saturday turned out to be a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to kindle their start-up dreams. Jointly organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and TiE Coimbatore, 615 participants, including students, attended the conclave.

Addressing the delegates, former Minister Ma Foi Pandiarajan said that aspiring entrepreneurs must be able to recognise area for their entrepreneurial entry in the value chain with innovative ideas.

“Entrepreneurship is not alone innovation in technology. Entrepreneurship also involves in selling innovative ideas that can be funded by angel investors. One can jump start his entrepreneurial entry with the support of spring board funded by others,” said Mr. Pandiarajan, who also shared his experiences while starting human resources management firm Ma Foi Management Consultants Ltd, as a start-up back in 1992.

Invoking poet Bharathiar, Mr. Pandiarajan reminded delegates to do business with values, a quality that has helped companies to maintain their reputation.

Vanitha Moha, president of ICCI Coimbatore, said that an incubation centre with the support of PSG Sons’ Charities will soon come up in Coimbatore for budding entrepreneurs.

G. Karthikeyan, president of TiE Coimbatore, said that the conclave will help to create entrepreneurship eco-system for start-ups. He said that registration for the conclave had to closed 10 days in advance as it was full.

The conclave also had sessions by 10 speakers. Organisers said that two-third of the participants were students.
