Coimbatore Revenue District has scored 91.46 per cent against the overall State pass per cent of 86.7 in the State Board Plus-Two examination. Out of the 33,954 students who appeared for the exam 31,055 have passed.
Girls have outscored boys with a pass per cent of 93.37 against 89.03. Out of the 14, 936 boys who had appeared for the exam, 13,297 have passed while 17,758 out of the 19, 018 girls have cleared the examination.
The results show an increase of 0.49 per cent compared to last year's per cent of 90.97.
As many as nine students in the city had emerged subject-wise State toppers. P. Supriya Shri of G.D. Matriculation higher Secondary School who bagged first rank in German said “German was a rare choice available in my school and I chose it because I found it interesting. But, I never expected a rank in the subject. I would like to do further courses in the language.”
M.B. Abhay Kumar, of the same school bagged third rank among students who had chosen German while Kasaraneni Padmaja Priyanka of Vidya Vikasani Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thudiyalur, bagged second rank in Hindi.
K. Vijayalakshmi, Bharathi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, who bagged second rank in English, said “ It is a sweet success as I had missed district first rank in SSLC Board Examination because I had got four marks less in English.”
G. Shanthini Devi of Vidya Vikaas Matriculation Higher Secondary School bagged third rank in English.
Harsha Daga of Avila Convent Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Velandipalayam, who bagged three State second ranks in commerce, economics, accountancy and business maths, said she was overwhelmed by the results though she had expected good marks as she found all the papers easy.
Suryapriya M. of Sri Avinashilingam Government Higher Secondary School, has scored first rank in home science while V. Karthikeni of the same school has bagged third rank in the district. N. Saranya of the same school had bagged third rank in nutrition and dietics.
R. Keerthana of Vivekam Matriculation Higher Secondary School and R. Priyanka of S.R.S.I. matriculation Higher Secondary School Karamadai, scored first and second ranks in general machinist (Vocational Subject).
As many as 65 students scored centum in chemistry, 15 in biology, 32 in computer science, 157 in mathematics, 8 in physics, 106 in economics, 68 in commerce, 320 in accountancy and 54 in business maths in the revenue district. Keeping with the trend of girls leading the rank list, R. Kanjana, Kongu Vellalar Matriculation Higher Secondary School had scored first rank in Coimbatore Revenue District while R. Nandini and S. Sivagami of the same school bagged second rank. A. Madhana Gopal of B.V. M. matriculation Higher Secondary School, Pollachi, has also scored second .
The third rank holders in the district are K. Karthikeyan of National Model Matriculation School, K. Vijayalskhmi, Bharathi Matriculation Higher secondary School, K.G. Ramyalakshmi of Shri Nehru Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
As many as seven Government-aided schools and three private schools and 79 private schools in the education district had got 100 pass per cent.
