‘Issues chartered accountants face need to be discussed'

Various issues facing the chartered accountants and the constant need for updating in the changed economic scenario were stressed at the Salem Branch of Southern India Regional Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India's Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Chartered Accountants' Conference held here on Saturday.

Presided over by the Salem Chairman G. Goudhaman, the conference had laid out a brain storming session for chartered accountants from all over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Dr. K. Arthanari, Managing Director, Sri Gokulam Hospitals Private Limited, Salem, while addressing the gathering, had underscored the importance of updating. Babu Abraham Kallivayalil, Chairman, SIRC, Kamlesh Vikamsey, Past President, ICAI and R.K. Kakkar, Commissioner of Income Tax, Salem also spoke on the occasion.

Supreme Court lawyer Lakshmi Kumaran addressed the gathering on Service Tax and the proposed GST. Kamalesh Vikamsey from Mumbai addressed the gathering on Limited Liability Partnership. Advocate from Hyderabad Sampath Raghunathan addressed the members on Recent Judgment under the Direct Taxes. M.P. Vijay Kumar from Chennai addressed on the International Financial Reporting Standards.

V. Sudharsan, Branch Secretary, thanked all the dignitaries and participants. The conference was organised jointly with Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode, Kumbakonam, Puducherry, Tirupur, Tiruchi, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Vellore branches and Hosur CPE Study Circle of SIRC of ICA.
