Corporation staff to issue computer-generated application forms that come with acknowledgement slip
In an effort aimed at further improving the issuance of birth and death certificates, the Coimbatore Corporation is planning to bring about a new system.
According to sources, the Corporation is planning to introduce computerised application forms, which when submitted to sanitary inspectors, will ensure that the applicants get birth or death certificates on the day of submitting the application.
When applicants go the sanitary inspectors’ office, the Corporation staff there will issue computer-generated application forms that come with acknowledgement slip.
The staff will print the forms afresh as and when applicants seek one, the sources say and add that the forms so issued will be with a random number.
When the applicants submit the filled-in forms, the staff will stamp and issue the acknowledgement slip for collection of the certificates later in the day.
Even as this process goes on, the Corporation staff at the main office will be able to monitor the progress of printing application forms, issuance of acknowledgement slips and finally, the birth certificates.
The sources say that the Corporation has been having difficulty in ensuring same-day delivery of birth and death certificates because at the offices where birth and death certificates are issued, only those applications that the staff accept find a mention in the register and what they keep pending are not reflected.
This presents a misleading picture and paves way for corruption. To avoid this, the Corporation will introduce the system, which facilitates real-time monitoring of the progress of issue of application forms and birth and death certificates.
The sources add that the system may become operational in the next 15 – 20 days.
