A group of investors on Thursday thronged the office of the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District, accusing a couple, who ran a chit firm, of defrauding them.

According to Muthurani, one of the investors, Prema and her husband Maheswaran ran a chit firm with monthly chits to a tune of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 25,000, Rs. 50,000 and even Rs. 1 lakh. After running it properly for some time, the couple delayed the returns on investments.

In 2013, the couple told the investors that only one third or one fourth of their investments could be returned. After some settlement, the couple have absconded. The investors presented a petition and investigations are on into it.
