Investigations on the increasing number of cyber crime has become a ‘real challenge’ since it has crossed trans-national boundaries, a top official in the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), a self-regulatory organisation promoted by NASSCOM said on Monday.
With more people falling prey to financial and individual cyber crimes of late due to larger penetration of mobile phones and computers, the Council wants to create cyber awareness and also enhance data protection and privacy along with cyber security in India, Pratap Reddy, IG and Director, DSCI told reporters here.
Reddy who was here as part of an awareness campaign on cyber security to police officials, said the initiative by Chennai Police and NASSCOM, which started a year ago, has been widened and made ‘Cyber safe Tamil Nadu’ concentrating on Tier two cities of the country.
Stating that the council has already trained more than 8,000 persons, including 6,000 police personnel, he said it had plans to start Cyber Labs in Chennai and Hyderabad with the help of state CB-CID on the lines of those in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Thane.
