An injured race horse was rescued by two veterinarians at Podanur on Friday.

On information from residents, veterinarians Nivedya Pankaj and S. Porgovan managed to pacify the abandoned animal that had suffered injuries all over its body.

Nivedya took the animal to his veterinary clinic and treated it with the help of a specialist.

After administering six units of saline, the horse finally gained some strength and started walking.

The animal suffered from gastrointestinal problem and it could have been fatal if it was not treated. Dr. Nivedya plans to shift the horse to an animal shelter at Palladam.
