According officials, the male calf, which appeared to be around one-and-a-half year old, had suffered injuries in its mouth and was unable to consume food. It refused to eat the food and medicine given by the forest officials. The forest officials had difficulty in reaching the elephant initially as its herd of nine elephants was standing near it.
