Education officers drawn from various units of the Indian Air Force attended a three-day seminar on “Special and Inclusive Education” at the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University recently.
The seminar, organised under the aegis of the Directorate of Education, Air Head Quarters, New Delhi, was held to train the officers in understanding the special needs of children with disabilities.
Inaugurating the seminar, Air Commodore S.V. Mutalik, Command Non-Technical Training Officer, Headquarters, Training Command, Bangalore, stressed the importance of using assistive devices for teaching children with learning and other disabilities.
“These are important considering the fact that in today's context a large number of children having visual, hearing and dyslexic disabilities are deprived from getting formal education,” he added.
Adoption of new tools and techniques for teaching children with disabilities was also stressed upon.
Air Commodore Ajay Masson, Commandant, Air Force Administrative College, and other resource persons having expertise in the field of imparting education to differently-abled children, addressed the participants.
