Muthankulam overflows; many trees uprooted

The heavy rain in the district on Monday night brought several low lying areas under water. While water entered in some of the houses, several trees got uprooted in the rain.

Valparai, Pollachi, Periyanaicken Palayam, and Sulur received heavy rain throughout night. Some of the tanks in the city including Muthannan Kulam overflowed.

More than 20 houses on Sowripalayam road near Puliyakulam were inundated.

Houses damaged

Two houses in the area were damaged.

Three houses located at backside of Karupparayan Kovil on V.K. Road near Peelamedu were partially damaged.

Water entered houses near Sulur Lake in the early hours of Tuesday. Residents of these houses were moved to safer places on Monday night itself.

A protective wall of first platform of Coimbatore Railway Station collapsed in the rain.

Several places in the district witnessed power shut down after trees fell on electric lines. More than 20 trees were removed on Tuesday morning. Branches of trees fallen on roads too were removed.
