Four persons were arrested for disobeying the orders issued by the Collector under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code on March 5 which asked the house owners not to rent out their buildings without informing the Station House Officer of the nearest police station.
The police sources said during surprise checks it was found that M. Arunachalam, under Perumanallur police station limits, S. Muthukumar, under Avinashi police station limits, and Umar Farooq and M. Kamasudin, both under Udumalpet police station limits, did not furnish the details of the tenants to the Station House Officers of the respective police stations.
All of them, arrested on Saturday night, were later released on bail.
The prohibitory order was a precautionary measure to keep track of the migrant population in the district in the wake of some recent crime incidents.
As per the directions, the house owners should obtain data from the tenants about their permanent address, telephone numbers, ration card number and whether they hold any arms licence. The details should then be submitted in a prescribed format to the Station House Officer of the respective police station. The prohibitory order would be in force for a period of 60 days from March 5.
