City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu on Wednesday rewarded an autorickshaw driver Sivasubramanian.On Tuesday, Sivasubramanian's autorickshaw was hired by a person who came out of a hospital for going up to Peelamedu. When the auto reached Cross Cut Road, the passenger was said to have asked the autorickshaw driver to buy food packets.

On Sivasubramanian's return to the vehicle, the passenger left for attending nature's call and never returned.

A bag which was left in the autorickshaw contained huge cash. The auto driver immediately rushed to the nearby police station and handed over the same. The bag was found to be containing Rs. 3,00,451 and on enquiry it was confirmed that the bag belonged to Parthasarathy of Gokhale Street in Ram Nagar.

The owner identified the bag and the belongings.

The owner of the bag handed over a cash reward of Rs. 10,000 to Sivasubramanian while City Police Commissioner appreciated the honesty of the driver and handed over a cash reward of Rs 1,000.
