Hindu Munnani workers arrested

About 180 Hindu Munnani workers were arrested in the district on Sunday when they attempted to stage picketing demanding immediate arrest of those, who hurled stones at a Vinayaka Chathurthi procession in nearby Tirupur, a week ago.

About 60 workers attempted to stage picketing demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the stone pelting incident at Mettupalayam, about 40 KMs from here.

Since police did not give permission to them either to stage demonstration or take out processioin, all of them were arrested, police added.
