Handwriting contest for school students

The Hindu and Cello will soon conduct the ‘ The Hindu In School Cello Handwriting Wizards Contest’ in Coimbatore and a few other cities.

According to a release, the organisers will conduct the test to encourage and recognise good handwriting. The contest is open to schools also in Chennai, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Madurai, Tiruchi and Salem, in two categories (junior and senior) at three levels.

The first stage is the school round. Top six students (three each in the two categories) will get certificates and gift hampers and will be invited to city round.

The city round is expected to have 6,000 contestants, who will have to create a Cello Wall by writing to the Prime Minister about the change they want in the country. Handwriting experts will choose the top 60 entries from these categories.

The final stage will be held in Chennai, where 60 contestants will battle it out on January 23, 2015 – National Handwriting Day.

The winners (three each in junior and senior categories) will get the title of ‘ The Hindu and Cello Handwriting Wizard’ title.

The contest covers over 1,000 schools in 10 cities in South India, reaching out to over 1 million students.
