Two students from Gedee Technical Training Institute (GTTI) will represent India in the 42nd WorldSkills International Competition to be held in Leipzig, Germany, in July.

The competition, held once in two years, brings together over 1,200 youth from across the globe to compete in various skills ranging from welding to Web design. The best get to win gold, silver, or bronze medals.

Jithin Benny under plastic die engineering, and S. Muthukumar under the CNC turning category, will compete on behalf of the country. There are six skill clusters from which contestants can choose to compete in. India is being represented in 22 skills this year.

The Institute has been sending students for the earlier editions of the competition too. N. Priyadarshan won a silver medal competing alongside 900 contestants from 51 countries in the 40th edition of the competition that was held in Calagary, Canada, in 2009.

The 41st edition of the competition was represented by four students of the Institute in 2011.

Contestants, who will compete this year, are the national winners in their respective categories at the National Skills Competition organised by National Skills Development Corporation held in April-May this year.
