Get your vacant land assessed for vacant land tax and clear the dues, else the civic body will not approve building plan when it is submitted, the Coimbatore Corporation has said.
In a release, the Corporation has said that owners of vacant lands should have their lands assessed for vacant land tax. And those who have registered their lands should clear their dues within 30 days of the receipt of the message.
For those who fail to register the land and clear the dues before March 31, 2013, the Corporation will not approve building plans. As for vacant land tax, the owners will have to pay the tax for 13 half-years including the current one.
Added areas
For vacant lands in the 40 wards that comprise places in added areas, the Corporation will levy 0.5 per cent of guideline value as tax till September 30, 2009. And for period from October 1, 2009, the rates shall be as mentioned in the accompanying graphics.
For the old Corporation area, the vacant land tax will be 1.125 per cent till September 30, 2009 and for the period thereafter, it will be 40 to 60 paisa per square feet, the release said.
