Gesture to save the life of a 10-year-old boy

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Hema Karunagaran, on Monday handed over a cheque for Rs. 9 lakh to B. Durai, a constable attached to the Law and Order Wing of the Sai Baba Colony Station, towards the treatment of his son who suffers from a genetic blood disorder.

The cheque was received by Mr. Durai and his wife along with their son Danush (10). The cheque was a gesture by Sheela George of Indian Public School in Dubai.

Dhanush is undergoing treatment at KMCH for thalassemia major.For the stem cell transplantation and post procedure treatment, the family required around Rs 20 lakh, said Inspector R. Srinvasulu of Sai Baba Colony Police Station. Funds from philanthropists are helping in ensuring the treatment and survival of the boy, the police said.
