General counselling for MCA begins

To be held till August 3 including Sundays; 343 students attended on Day One

Counselling for admission to MCA degree courses offered in Government, Government-aided, and self-financing engineering, and arts and science colleges of Tamil Nadu for the academic year 2013-14 began here at the Government College of Technology on Tuesday.

Kiruthika Easwari K. from Coimbatore was the first rank holder to take a seat in PSG College of Technology in the lateral entry mode.

T. Senthamizh Selvi, Director of Collegiate Education, Chennai, handed over the first allotment letter to Easwari in the presence of V. Lakshmi Prabha, Principal of Government College of Technology, and S. Dinakaran, Branch Manager, State Bank of India, GCT Branch.

Out of the 343 who attended counselling in five sessions, 169 joined in the regular mode in engineering colleges, and 13 in arts and science colleges. As many as 129 joined in the lateral entry mode in engineering colleges, and 25 in arts and science colleges.

General counselling will go on till August 3 including Sundays. It will start at 8 a.m. and be held in five batches every day. There are a total of 5,439 candidates appearing for the counselling.
