Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) has urged the State Government to fulfil the needs of the Kongu region.

Speaking at the Coimbatore District Conference held in the city on Sunday, the party’s General Secretary E.R. Eswaran said that the political parties were not paying attention to the grievances of the farmers.

Likewise, the State Government had failed to address the problems in textile, pump manufacturing, foundries and other industries in Coimbatore. The result was that industrialists were migrating to other States that gave incentives for setting up of factories.

While the party welcomed the State Government’s move to hold a global investors’ meet, it wanted the Government to look at the problems in the industries here faced.

Mr. Eswaran wanted the Government to explore the possibility of bifurcating the district by forming a new district with Pollachi as district head quarters. He also wanted the Government to leave it to the people to fulfil the Avinashi-Athikadavu drinking water supply scheme. His other demand was to improve the law and order situation in the district.

To the partymen, he said that the given the potential to send around 50 MLAs to the Tamil Nadu Assembly, they should work hard to strengthen the party.
