Makkal Auto services that remained suspended from Monday resumed on Wednesday

Police on Wednesday arrested three more autorickshaw drivers in connection with the attack on Makkal Auto vehicles and assaulting its drivers and another autorickshaw driver for alleged assault of a driver on 100-ft road.

Race Course Police on Wednesday arrested Thangaraj, Saravanan and Vijayakumar. The police are on the look out for some more autorickshaw drivers, said Inspector R. Venkataraman.

On Wednesday, Ravichandran (42) of Ganapathy was said to have objected to the plying of Makkal Auto and parking it on 100 Feet Road. Based on a complaint from Makkal Auto driver Maheshkumar of Marappalam near Madukkarai, police registered a case against Ravichandran and arrested him.

Makkal Auto services that remained suspended from Monday resumed on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Makkal Auto Managing Director T. Selvaraj said that there were more than 900 calls till 6 p.m. on Wednesday, of which 600 trips were operated, he said.

Deploring the Monday’s attack, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Coimbatore urged the State Government to immediately announce the fare structure for the entire State.
