West Zone police have arrested three women and a man on charges of kidnapping children.

Inspector General of Police, West Zone, P. Sivanandi told journalists here on Sunday that the Krishnagiri police had arrested Dhanalakshmi, who was wanted for her alleged role in kidnapping a three-month-old baby boy.

Inquiries revealed that Dhanalakshmi, who recently lifted the child at a bus stop near Krishnagiri, had sold it for Rs.1,000 to her accomplices Girija and Rani of Vaniyambadi.

She was also found to be involved in the kidnap of a three-year-old boy Deva, son of Selvaraj.

Mr. Sivanandi said Dhanalakshmi had sold Deva for Rs. 20,000 to father Alphone Xavier of Padapai, who had in turn sold the child to a friend in Chenji for Rs. 40,000.

The police had arrested Xavier as well.

They had also recovered the children.

Mr. Sivanandi added that the police would take into custody the four for further investigation.
