The District Rural Police have arrested four persons on the charge of stealing goods worth Rs. 19.16 lakh by diverting a truck.

According to the police, Reddy Ramaiah (60) of Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, was working as a truck driver for Reddy Venkathayee Roadways, run by Sudhakar Reddy (45) of Hyderabad.

In his complaint to the police, Sudhakar Reddy stated that Reddy Ramaiah had picked up 16 tonnes of rubber sheets from Moovatupuzha in Kerala on October 9 and was supposed to deliver it in Hyderabad.

However, Reddy Ramaiah had called up Sudhakar Reddy and informed him that some persons waylaid the lorry near KG Chavadi and diverted it to Chamrajnagar in Karnataka.

Reddy Ramaiah claimed that the lorry was found a few kms from where he was dumped. However, the goods were missing. Sudhakar Reddy filed a police complaint. The KM Patty police registered a case on Tuesday. Besides Ramaiah, the police have secured S. Vinodh (46) of Gudalur and Paul Varghees (40) of Kovaipudur, both of whom allegedly unloaded the goods from the lorry and K. Nataraj (36), a sales broker also from Gudalur.
