Swift action by the District Rural Police resulted in a robbery case being solved and the stolen property being retrieved in less than eight hours of the incident. Four persons have been secured.

According to the police, G. Vasanthi (38) was residing at Goundampalayam wither her husband Gandhi, who ran a finance company, and two daughters aged 9 and 12.

After Gandhi had left for work on Tuesday morning, two persons entered the house, which has two entrances, and threatened Vasanthi and her daughters at knifepoint. They forcibly removed an 18-sovereign gold chain she was wearing and took another four-sovereign gold chain from the shelf. They also opened a cupboard and took Rs. 1,000 cash.

Two more of their accomplices had stood near the entrance of the house and on the street to monitor the movement of people and raise an alert in case of a threat.

As the duo inside the house were taking the items, Vasanthi fled the house through the second entrance and raised an alarm after which the thieves fled the scene.

The District Rural Police immediately alerted all the police stations and vehicle checks were intensified in the vicinity of the incident.

During the checks, the police managed to secure a person, identified as Nagaraj (22), who was suspected to have been involved in the robbery.
