A 15-year-old girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence at Edayarpalayam near the city on Thursday.
Thudiyalur police said that the girl was studying in Class IX at a government school in the city.
Police said inquiries with the family members revealed that that she was upset over not been bought a new pair of footwear.
In another case, a 16-year-old boy reportedly hanged himself in his house at Thirunagar in Anaimalai on Friday, upset at not being able to get the course of his choice in Plus One.
