First woman Commissioner assumes office

G. Latha on Monday assumed office as the first woman Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation. A little after noon, she arrived at the Corporation’s main office in Town Hall and signed the order that formalised her taking over as the head of the civic body.

She was general manager of Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of women. and Small Industries Development Corporation.
