Sleuths of the Economic Offences Wing have begun the valuation of the over 45 immovable properties in Tamil Nadu and Kerala belonging to the promoters of Fine Future, the now defunct online multi-level marketing firm. The engineers from the Public Works Department are assisting the police officials in the evaluation process that will be completed within 10 days.

Tense moments

Tension prevailed at the Avarampalayam level crossing on the Coimbatore – Pilamedu section on Tuesday morning, when a goods train had to pass through the level crossing even as the gates remained open. Passers-by and motorists helped in forming a human chain on both sides of the level crossing preventing the vehicles from entering.

It is learnt that the gatekeeper tried to close the gate, but the motorists kept on passing through the level crossing leaving him unable to bring down the lever to close the gate.

Leopard kills dog

Residents of Vazhaithottam plantation pocket in Valparai went through a sleepless night on Monday to find a street dog mauled to death by a leopard.

Forest officials have deployed anti-depredation watchers to drive back the leopard deep into the jungle.

House burgled

Burglars broke into the house of Rathinasamy (35) of Keerayampalayam near Koilpalayam on Monday and decamped with 13 sovereigns of jewellery.

It is learnt that Rathinasamy had gone out, while his wife was grazing the cattle in a nearby farm.

Investigations are on.
