Fine Future case: police custody extended

The Economic Offences Wing police team investing the Fine Future case got another six days’ custody of the accused Senthil Kumar, Vivek and Nithyanandam. Judge Sreenivasan of the special court hearing cases registered under the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act., ordered that the team produce the accused before the court on March 21.

According to sources, the team decided to go in for extension of custody considering the enormity and complexity of the case.

It wanted to gather more details from the accused and identify, unearth and recover the hidden properties and also go to other States.

The sources said that the reason for extension was also to scrutinise bank records, study the website the promoters had developed and used for transaction and visit neighbouring states.

The team earlier got custody of the three accused for nine days that ended on Friday. The sources also said that on Friday, based on information divulged by the three accused, the team recovered jewellery and cash that amounted to Rs. 87 lakh. A few days ago, the team had unearthed Rs. 46 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs. 18 lakh. The sources also said that as of now they were unable to assign a figure to the total money involved in the online fraud. Only a thorough investigation would reveal the details, the sources said.

In short, its aim was to identify the beneficiaries and the victims.
