Final electoral rolls released in Coimbatore district

Newly included voters to get photo identity cards on January 25

In the electoral rolls released on Friday, Kavundampalayam has the largest electorate with 3,62,691 voters and Valparai has the lowest electorate with 1,82,905 voters among the 10 Assembly Constituencies in the Coimbatore district.

Revision of electoral rolls for inclusion of voters who turned 18 as on January 1, 2014, was taken up from October 1 to 31, 2013 .

As many as 1,62,088 applications were received for inclusion of names, 2,198 forms for removal of names, 21,000 forms for corrections and 7,626 forms for address change. The supplementary rolls released on Friday after verification has 1,56,771 new voters.

As per the electoral rolls released on Friday, Coimbatore district has 12,70,084 male voters and 12,65,268 female voters and 26 transgenders. In total, the district has 25,35,378 voters. Newly included voters will get their Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) on January 25, the National Electors Day.

The revised electoral rolls are on display at the Revenue Divisional Offices, Taluk offices, and polling booths for the members of public to check for inclusion of their names.

As per the rolls, Mettupalayam Constituency has 2,51,847 voters (1,25,059 male and 1,26,782 female), Sulur has 2,52,805 voters (1,26,299 male and 1,26,506 female), Kavundampalayam has 3,62,691 voters (1,83,296 male and 1,79,395 female), Coimbatore North has 2,68,528 voters (1,36,094 male and 1,32,434 female voters), Thondamuthur has 2,63,741 (1,32,604 male and 1,31,137 female), Coimbatore South has 2,21,992 voters (1,11,490 male and 1,10,497 female), Singanallur has 2,65,660 voters (1,34,315 male and 1,31,332 female), Kinathukkadavu has 2,60,986 voters (1,30,208 male and 1,30,778 female), Pollachi has 2,04,223 voters (1,00,694 male and 1,03,528 female) and Valparai 1,82,905 voters (90,025 male and 92,879 voters). Mettupalayam has six transgender voters, while Coimbatore South has five and Singanallur has 13. Pollachi and Valparai have one transgender voters each.

Tirupur

There are 18,75,422 voters (9,47,727 male, 9,27,610 female and others 85) in Tirupur district, according to the final photo electoral rolls released by Collector G. Govindaraj for the entire eight Assembly Constituencies here on Friday. Official sources said that this was 79,523 more than the number of voters figured in the last draft electoral rolls published on October 1, 2013.

According to the photo electoral rolls published on the day, Palladam has the largest electorate of 2,81,643 (1,43, 984 male, 1,37,652 female and others-7) among all the eight constituencies in the district. The Madathukulam constituency has the lowest electorate of 2,03,192 (1,01422 male, 1,01,765 female and others-5).

The number of voters in the other six constituencies are as follows: Dharapuram- 2,26,081 (1,12,497 male, 1,13,580 female and others-4); Kangayam – 2,13,823 (1,06,239 male, 1,07,571 female and others-13); Avinashi- 2,27,400 (1,13,505 male, 1,13,881 female and others-14); Tirupur North – 2,79,492 (1,45,598 male, 1,33,874 female and others-20); Tirupur South- 2,16,036 (1,11,714 male, 1,04,307 female and others- 15); and Udumalpet – 2,27,755 (1,12,768 male, 1,14,980 female and others-7).

Official sources said that the photo electoral rolls would be displayed at various taluk offices in the district.

“The people can apply in the requisite forms to carry out corrections, if they come across any mistakes in the entries,” officials at the Election cell in the Collectorate said.

The Nilgiris

The final electoral rolls in respect of the Udhagamandalam, Coonoor and Gudalur (SC) Assembly Constituencies of the Nilgiris district were released by the District Collector P.Sankar here on Friday. They have been displayed at the Revenue Divisional Offices in Coonoor and Gudalur, the Municipal offices in Ooty and Coonoor, all the taluk offices and designated places including polling stations. Mr.Sankar urged the voters to ensure that their names figured in the lists. Number of voters in Udhagamandalam Assembly Constituency - male: 93,047 and female: 95,761; Coonoor- male: 86,139 and female: 90,724; Gudalur- male: 83,403 and female: 84,055. The total number of voters in the Nilgiris district was 5,33,129 including 2,62,589 male and 2,70,540 female voters.
