‘Fight against corruption will strengthen govt.’

Working for eliminating corruption was not working against the government, said civil servant U. Sagayam, who was here to participate in an anti-corruption movement programme on Saturday.

Addressing reporters on the sidelines of the programme, Mr. Sagayam, who probed the mining scam, said that most often it was misconstrued that fight against corruption was a fight against the government or administration. On the contrary, fight against corruption would only strengthen the government.

He said he expected a favourable verdict from the court in the mineral mining scam as all necessary documents had been submitted. He had probed the scam on a court direction.

The movement representatives later honoured a few honest officers in various government departments.
