Fifth edition of ‘Yarnex’ begins

Showcasing an impressive assemblage of value-added yarns, fabrics and garment accessories, the fifth edition of the three-day ‘Yarnex’ international exhibition got off to a colourful start at the India Knit Fair Complex here on Thursday.

Around 75 companies from within the country and abroad were displaying their products to the buyers at the fair, which was organised by S.S. Textile Media Private Limited.

“We are organising the fair as an one-stop destination for sourcing the key raw materials like yarn and fabrics needed for the production of various textile products,” P. Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer of S.S. Textile Media Private Limited, told The Hindu . This year’s edition had featured a comprehensive collection of natural fibres and yarns as well as regenerated and man-made fibres. Fancy yarns for woven and knitwear range of textile products, and a collection of top dyed mélange yarns, advanced polyester staple fibres, among others, were also exhibited. The National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC Limited), a Government of India undertaking, had exhibited some of its exquisite collection of yarns and fabrics. “We have brought here the export-quality ‘combed compact 100 per cent cotton yarn’, which the Corporation manufactures from its unit situated on the Special Economic Zone premises at Hassan in Karnataka. The said yarn product is available in ‘40s’, ‘60s’ and ‘80s’ counts,” N.R. Sundar, Deputy Manager (marketing) of NTC Limited, said. Maria Adelaide Rodrigues, a British citizen of Indian descent, told this paper, that she came all the way from Surrey in England to source products made of organic cotton for the apparel production business she plans to restart in Goa. Earlier in the day, N. Chandran, vice-president of Tirupur Exporters’ Association, inaugurated the event.
