The cardamom harvest season in India is from August to March while the peak harvest season is from October to December. The lean arrival of the produce has been prevalent from January to May. Auction prices have consistently remained high from June due to reduced arrivals.

In this background, the Domestic and Export Market Intelligence Cell (DEMIC) of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has indicated that the best grade Alleppey Green Extra Bold cardamom would fetch around Rs. 1,650 a kg in September and around Rs. 1,670 a kg in October 2010.

From November, the prices are likely to decline. Hence, farmers are advised to sell cardamom before November 2010 for getting better prices.
