Eswaran seeks changes to Wildlife Protection Act

April 22, 2014 10:08 am | Updated May 21, 2016 12:47 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

National Democratic Alliance’s Pollachi candidate from the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi E.R. Eswaran has said that he would work to bring amendments to the Wildlife Protection Act as a number of people in the forest periphery stood affected.

Schemes

Speaking to reporters at Thondamuthur, near here, while campaigning in the area, he reiterated his promises of implementing the Anamalaiaru-Nallaru scheme, widening the Coimbatore-Pollachi Road, expediting the pending gauge conversion project and removing silt from tanks and dams in the area.

Though some of the promises he made were within the State Government’s domain, nothing prevented him for making those promises as he would work with the Central and State governments to get those projects implemented.

Coir industry

He would also work for the uplift of the coir industry in Pollachi.

Accusing the incumbent – AIADMK’s K. Sugumar – of having done very little work, he said that his poor track record would work against the party and in his favour.

He said that he had also assured voters of finding a solution to the problems from the Vellalore dump yard.
