Elephant triggers panic in Valparai

An elephant in Nadumalai and Vazhaithottam areas of Valparai has led to panic among the people. The animal recently damaged the school building, besides raiding a ration shop, and also destroyed crops in the area.

Forest Department has deployed additional anti-poaching and anti-depredation squad watchers to monitor the movement of the elephant to try and chase it back into the forest.

Leopard cub rescued

A leopard cub struggling for life in a water tank in Valparai near High Forest Estates was noticed by plantation workers. On information, forest personnel reached the spot and used a bamboo stick to rescue the animal. It climbed out to safety and ran into the forest area.

Girl dies of injuries

A five-year-old girl, Sathya, daughter of Badirasamy and Mutharasi of AKS Nagar in Gandhi Park, who sustained burns after a vessel used for boiling hot water for bathing fell on her two days ago, died at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Tuesday. She had been undergoing treatment for the last two days.
